RenovoData Offers Advanced Data Storage Auditing Solutions with LAN Storage Audit Tool

Atlanta, Ga--April 14, 2009--RenovoData, Inc., leader in offsite data backup and IT disaster recovery data storage solutions, presents the LAN Storage Audit Tool, a service offering that helps companies discover storage inefficiencies and categorize critical data.  This data storage auditing tool gives IT directors and CIOs of small and medium businesses the ability to accurately assess the data count across their network and makes them aware of potential data storage issues at each of their remote business locations.  A distinctive feature about the LAN Storage Audit Tool is that it is “platform agnostic.”  The program is compatible with over 30 different operating systems, which helps organizations who operate in heterogeneous environments.

One of the most difficult issues businesses face is a shortage of information to comprehensively analyze their network storage before investing in a data backup management solution.  A significant benefit of the LAN Storage Audit Tool is that it gives IT managers of complex business environments the ability to take total control of their data while simultaneously decreasing the overall total cost of ownership of managing data on their servers.  It’s a value-added instrument that continuously helps customers improve their performance and experience direct savings for their organization.  This forecasting instrument looks at past trends to predict future performance and prevents the need to buy excess storage.  It enables the business manager to spend only on storage that is required rather than guessing at their storage purchasing needs.  Given today’s tough economic climate where businesses are looking to cut costs by reducing waste, the advantages this service delivers can be invaluable.

“Imagine you are the IT Director of a corporation and the CIO needs to give the Board of Directors a reason as to why it is so difficult to budget an accurate amount of storage to purchase each year,” explains Chuck Cook, Business Development Manager at RenovoData.  “If you don’t buy enough storage, you either have to limp along until the next annual budget cycle or make an adhoc request for additional storage purchases, which may be difficult to obtain.  The flip side of this is that if you buy too much storage, you have to justify to the Board why storage hardware is still sitting unopened in their boxes.”  He adds, “To justify these purchases, you must first determine which department takes up the most space, and then help the Board understand where this unexpected cost is coming from.  The LAN Storage Audit Tool can help you better predict storage needs so that companies only buy the storage they will actually use.   It allows you to create reports to see the file ownership, number of duplicate and dormant files, files by extension or type, and much more.  In such a scenario, you would be able to explain which department has added new files and which hasn’t deleted a file in ten years.  This tool arms you with information that can help the company plan for issues before they become an emergency.”

Single users and enterprise-wide networks can recover wasted disk space, isolate problem storage areas and stay below the IT budget with the LAN Storage Audit Tool.  Through implementing this module at each business location, the business manager can evaluate their information to differentiate mission-critical data from less frequently used important data.  It will also enable them to eliminate downtime caused by exceeded capacity, proactively protect against file server damages from destructive worm viruses and respond more rapidly to data trends.  However, the most substantial advantage to the customer may be that a comprehensive backup strategy tailored to their particular remote backup and data storage needs can be effectively planned.

RenovoData offers the LAN Storage Audit Tool as a standalone solution or as part of their remote backup and disaster recovery services.  The Company is currently offering a free assessment.  For more information, please visit their web site at the following address:
